So, what are you going to buy with your Newsvine earnings?! I plan on buying a Christmas thong for Nycam.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

At my current rate of Newsvine earning it'll take me approx. 100 years to pay for the dentist trip. But only 1 year to pay for the toothbrush and toothpaste. I know which is the more sensible option.

USD$4.79 total from two months! Go me!

That's AUD$6.08, which isn't too shabby. If I head down to Pizza Hut after 3pm I can get two personal pizzas and two drinks with that.

Sadly, it's not enough to have it actually paid out, but mark my words by the time I get to payout level I'll be ready to splurge.

Haha. I just got a new credit card and the "secret code" is 666. A couple months ago I went to get a license plate and the next one off the stack ended in 2666--but the lady asked my preference and gave me 2667 instead (calling me a chicken).

At least I didn't get $6.66 for earnings! I don't know about you, but I'd be tempted to get rid of that total and give it to charity! ; )

Pamela, it would certainly be interesting to do an actual analysis of how may votes, or comments that would take, but cursorily that figure would have to be around 10-20000? I've never seen an article get near that number and they specified that it was a few articles....

My earnings will buy me one Ketel One and tonic in George's bar at the corner of Balbo and Wabash in Chicago. If I go kitty-corner to the Hilton, it'll get me a half of a Grey Goose and tonic.

I love that participation in Newsvine pays. I'm certainly not here for the big money (I'm not in the writing business for the big money either, although it'd be nice). Checking on my earnings total is a little like counting my money when playing Monopoly. It motivates me to write more, seed more. Okay, so it motivates me to THINK about writing more and seeding more.

Anyway, lauhal-I'll go halvsies on the thong for Nycam.

I've been wondering the same thing actually.

I assume they just go to newsvine like the category pages, but as they are actually a subdomain it will be good to have this confirmed.

They may even possibly be split between all members - in which case I can't see them having a huge impact for people.

As far as I know, publishing in a group doesn't affect the stats or the payouts at all. They all belong to the original seeder or author. ;}

For the stories it goes to the original authors subdomain so they'd get the money, but on the group homepage (group.newsvine.com), that's where people are unsure on where the money goes - I assume it goes to Newsvine, like the main category pages.

I'll try not to spend all 12 cents in the same place.

Hey, you can throw your 2 cents in six times!

You know, I've always wondered... people offer a penny for your thoughts, and you give them your two cents' worth. Aren't we being cheated?

Ok I JUST discovered this whole Earnings thing.

What in Sam Hill. They share advertising revenue with users? Are you serious!?

Not that I'm driven by money, but that is just something else altogether let me tell you. It seems to good to be true. I must be missing something.

Not really. You get 90% of ad revenues from pages in your domain, which in your case is unplugged.newsvine.com.

That is positively unreal.

This website is the greatest thing to ever grace the internet. And not because of this, by no means, it's just one more layer of icing on a cake that really didn't need any more icing.

I look forward to my cheque of $0.45 US dollars. :P
