So, what are you going to buy with your Newsvine earnings?! I plan on buying a Christmas thong for Nycam.
I'm going to buy a jawbreaker and send the remaining 10cents to Zaki.
Well with my entire $1.80 from the past 5 months I think I'll treat myself to a yummy yummy chocolate bar.
Otherwise, you'd have to pay for a trip to the dentist. :(
At my current rate of Newsvine earning it'll take me approx. 100 years to pay for the dentist trip. But only 1 year to pay for the toothbrush and toothpaste. I know which is the more sensible option.
I'm investing for my retirement.
I just retired.
USD$4.79 total from two months! Go me!
That's AUD$6.08, which isn't too shabby. If I head down to Pizza Hut after 3pm I can get two personal pizzas and two drinks with that.
Sadly, it's not enough to have it actually paid out, but mark my words by the time I get to payout level I'll be ready to splurge.
Free dogs for everyone!
I WANT A BEAGLE PLEASE. : D
I'll take a weiner, no onions, lauhals got the buns.
A Weirmaner, a Scottsman and Rabbi walk into a bar...
...bartender says, "What is this, some kind of joke?"
Free @!$%#es, eh?
I want Obleo.
My belated birthday present is sure to impress... but I got a nasty papercut on it while tying the bow.
"Total Available for Pay Out or Donation: $6.66"
...I think my earnings are trying to tell me something...
Haha. I just got a new credit card and the "secret code" is 666. A couple months ago I went to get a license plate and the next one off the stack ended in 2666--but the lady asked my preference and gave me 2667 instead (calling me a chicken).
At least I didn't get $6.66 for earnings! I don't know about you, but I'd be tempted to get rid of that total and give it to charity! ; )
As sad as it is, I considered donating one cent just so that it wouldn't be $6.66 anymore.
I don't think you can do that, unfortunately, it looks like an all-or-nothing sort of deal.
I'm currently doing the analysis on the pay structure, but from an initial glance it's possible I would be underpaid in China.

$21.36 for Oct. If my calculations are correct.... that's about 7.3342 cents an hour. I just bought a ticket to Hong Kong. I start in a sweat shop on Monday...... Seriously folks, I don't stick around for the money.....
Not to brag but being number pushed my earnings a whopping ten dollars higher Jim so you know what's waiting at the top of the leaderboaard. It does make me wonder who made the $400 in August and how.
Pamela, it would certainly be interesting to do an actual analysis of how may votes, or comments that would take, but cursorily that figure would have to be around 10-20000? I've never seen an article get near that number and they specified that it was a few articles....
More food...

I'm more curious to what people averaged per seed. Personally I averaged a whole .15 cents a seed.
That is interesting to look at, Steve. I averaged $.35/seed in October, up from $.14/seed in September (I didn't write any articles in either of those two months).
I almost earned a WHOLE DOLLAR over the entire year! At this rate, it will take a decade before I can withdraw it.
I wonder if I earn interest on it while I'm waiting to have enough to withdraw?
Oh man, I'm a quarter shy of cashing out still! I was really hoping to be able to buy at least one Christmas present with this! ; )
Despite me posting about half the amount in October as I did in September I actually doubled my earnings. Not bad at all! I'll probably accumulate a bit more then send it onto some good cause or other - or just spend it on booze and loose women, whichever takes my fancy at the time ;¬)
I'm going to spend half of my earnings on
booze and loose women, the rest I'll just
squander on something else.
My earnings will buy me one Ketel One and tonic in George's bar at the corner of Balbo and Wabash in Chicago. If I go kitty-corner to the Hilton, it'll get me a half of a Grey Goose and tonic.
I love that participation in Newsvine pays. I'm certainly not here for the big money (I'm not in the writing business for the big money either, although it'd be nice). Checking on my earnings total is a little like counting my money when playing Monopoly. It motivates me to write more, seed more. Okay, so it motivates me to THINK about writing more and seeding more.
Anyway, lauhal-I'll go halvsies on the thong for Nycam.
I'm certainly not here for the money. Even if I take my collective earnings from my entire stay here on the vine, I still can't use a payphone. I'm here for the community and the discussion.
And the ice cream. It's in the back office.
Cincinnati - Kabul tickets round-trip= $1800
taking taxi 4times per work day = $150
MiniDV cam = $300
iPod microphone = $60
green shirt = $15
October Distribution = $13.16
Receiving a care package from Newsviners = priceless
ps. Zaki wants a macbook for Christmas, to replace his dying emachines laptop (might have to do something with that damn Afghanistan dust). Have your rich neighbors send donations! thx! ;)
That particular type of Apple isn't edible, lauhal.
I'll just lick it
take photos.
"Whoooooohooooo! A spare tire and some lurv handles!"
Does anyone else remember that holiday commercial - Jenny Craig I think? Anyone? (Bueller?)
Seriously though. Almost to a pack of gum, and could not be happier - first money I ever made writing (what I would actually like to do someday full-time) in my life. I love this place.
Awesome, I've broken the $20 barrier. At this rate, I'll be able to publish my planned article, "This XBox 360 Brought to Me By: Newsvine" in roughly two years.
By then, I assure you that you'll want a Wii 2.
Good deal, Steve! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Unless it happened to me, of course. Which it didn't.
Out of curiosity if we are the admin for a group do we get a cut everytime somone visits our group?
Anybody from newsvine out their that can answer this question? cheers.
If I recall correctly, group page earnings don't go to group admins. Can't remember where I read that, though.
I've been wondering the same thing actually.
I assume they just go to newsvine like the category pages, but as they are actually a subdomain it will be good to have this confirmed.
They may even possibly be split between all members - in which case I can't see them having a huge impact for people.
I'm really not sure Ardith, anybody from Newsvine there? Maybe they're not responding cause this was suppose to be our christmas suprise. ;)
As far as I know, publishing in a group doesn't affect the stats or the payouts at all. They all belong to the original seeder or author. ;}
For the stories it goes to the original authors subdomain so they'd get the money, but on the group homepage (group.newsvine.com), that's where people are unsure on where the money goes - I assume it goes to Newsvine, like the main category pages.
Yar is that 46 million peso's
I made one thin dime. Whoo-hoo!
I'll try not to spend all 12 cents in the same place.
You know, I've always wondered... people offer a penny for your thoughts, and you give them your two cents' worth. Aren't we being cheated?
Ok I JUST discovered this whole Earnings thing.
What in Sam Hill. They share advertising revenue with users? Are you serious!?
Not that I'm driven by money, but that is just something else altogether let me tell you. It seems to good to be true. I must be missing something.
I must be missing something.
Not really. You get 90% of ad revenues from pages in your domain, which in your case is unplugged.newsvine.com.
That is positively unreal.
This website is the greatest thing to ever grace the internet. And not because of this, by no means, it's just one more layer of icing on a cake that really didn't need any more icing.
I look forward to my cheque of $0.45 US dollars. :P
