Talk about down-sizing! One woman is living in a house that you really have to see to believe.
"It's 84 square feet, so roughly the size of a parking spot. Actually, smaller than a parking spot," says Dee Williams, who decided it was time to move. She was living in a 1,500-square foot home in Portland, but decided the house wasn't small enough - yes, small enough!

This is pretty amazing. The house looks bigger than I thought it would...on the inside. Can you imagine how much simpler your life would be if you did this? I'd spend a lot more time outside. I think it's cool that she did this. I wonder what specifically motivated her to do this?

Imagine towing it up to a nice spot by a lake or river. Set up your solar panels, hook up your propane and fish for a week or two.
Imagine pointing to it if the kid shows up on the porch and says they're moving back in.

The wheel thing has me thinking that this house is like a camping trailer...yet somehow different. Maybe it's because of all the wood. Whatever - it's still pretty cool. :)

I agree whole-heartedly! I've seen a few things on the net about similarly done things, but none this well done. Most travel trailers are wood frame on a trailer foundation, they just have a vinyl siding. This would look great wherever you put it.

This is so excellent! I was thinking a while back, I ponder solutions to homelessness, creating communities of homes the size of parking lots. It's only because we accumulate so much stuff that we need huge houses. There are much better uses of all our space! This is even better than what I had in mind when I was contemplating it! And for $10k, it would be within the budget of even the poorest.

I think its such an altruistic thing to do, think of all the space she is freeing up by living in something so tiny! With the population of the world increasing at such an alarming rate, i wouldn't be surprised if we see more and more of this type of living....
On the plus side - no mortgage!

I'll bet she went gaga for refrigerator boxes when she was little. . .

Oh, this looks so well-built and the wood everywhere is wonderful! And you can take it all over the place- that's exciting. Couldn't have kids living with you, I think I would go craaazy!! :)
I lived in a cabin about that size for about a year, loft and all. It felt really good to have things pared down to that extent. I doubt I could do it now, but hooray for her.
