Apple has apologised and promised to give credit notes to customers who have bought iPhones after slashing the price of the must-have gadget within weeks of its release.
Steve Jobs, the technology firm's CEO, announced the move in a letter on Apple's website, in which he said sorry for "disappointing" consumers who had paid the full price of $599 - almost £300 - for the device.
