A 17-year-old grocery bagger was ready to wash his hands in the bathroom at the Federal Way supermarket where he works when he saw a brown canvas money bag on the floor.

Moisei Baraniuc was curious. He opened it and saw envelopes filled with money – "a pretty thick stack."

Thick enough to add up to $10,000.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The article doesn't say he turned it in.  How long do they have to hold it for the rightful owner to claim it> what does the boy get if the rightful owner is found> How will the rightful owner prove it is theirs?  Is this a hoax story?

If you actually read the article, you'd understand that Moses Baraniuc turned the money over to his supervisor, who called the police, who, in turn, gave the money back to the rightful owner.

Hoax story, no - hoax comment - yes.

I enjoyed reading the article.  I hope that children are not allowed to read the article or hear of it. They make us attend these "Public Schools" where they beat on us until we forget everything of value we know then they teach us to do evil and stupid things on the sly.  These people are confused.  Honesty?  Please!  Moisoi Baranivc is stupid for a seventeen year old boy.  I hope his father gives him a good  beating. So much for Sunday School.  This story is a hoax planted to lead young people astray!

      Barbara,

Who is the owner of the money?

Why the cash money was taken to a bathroom?

If anyone of us withdraw $10,000.00 from the bank immediately there is a red flag to the Federals - IRS.

There are more questions about this money

And of course the young man has brains in returning the money

deter, Answers to these and other questions are in the article.  Why do you ask?  No judgement, just a question.
